HitchDays is free to download and the countdown is free to use. HitchDays Pro is an optional subscription sold through Apple: $2.99 a month, or $14.99 a year with a 7-day free trial. It renews automatically until you cancel it in your iPhone settings. The dates the app shows are worked out from the rotation you enter, so they are only as right as that rotation.
1. Apple's EULA applies
Your use of HitchDays is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Apple EULA). Everything in the Apple EULA applies to HitchDays. The sections below are the app-specific terms that add to it: subscriptions, the free tier, how the schedule is calculated, and who to contact. They form an agreement between you and Jay Alcalde (we, us), the developer of HitchDays (the app). Where these terms and the Apple EULA conflict, the Apple EULA wins.
By downloading or using the app you agree to the Apple EULA and to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use HitchDays on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store usage rules allow. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, rent, or redistribute the app. The app, its name, Pidge the pigeon, its artwork, and its code remain ours.
3. The free tier
HitchDays works without paying and without an account. The free tier includes: One rotation in any pattern, the days-until-home countdown with the date and your next change, this week and next week on the month grid, countdown words that fit your house, and the small Home Screen widget. We may change what the free tier includes in future versions, but we will not delete or lock a rotation you have already entered.
4. HitchDays Pro subscriptions
HitchDays Pro adds the full month grid and any month ahead, every crew change ahead instead of only the next one, month pictures to send to family, Add to Calendar for your next 12 changes, a reminder at 6 pm the evening before each change, more than one rotation, days worked this month for checking a pay period, three more hitch colors, and the medium and Lock Screen widgets.
HitchDays Pro is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple's in-app purchase system. There are two plans in one subscription group, and you can have one at a time:
- HitchDays Pro Monthly: $2.99 per month. No free trial.
- HitchDays Pro Yearly: $14.99 per year, starting with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
Prices are in US dollars. The App Store shows the exact price in your currency, including any tax, before you confirm, and that is the price that applies.
4.1 Payment
Payment is charged to your Apple ID (Apple Account) when you confirm the purchase. If you start the yearly plan with the free trial, nothing is charged during the trial, and the first payment of $14.99 is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
4.2 Automatic renewal
Both plans renew automatically at the same price and length unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends. After a renewal is charged, you keep HitchDays Pro for the whole paid period.
4.3 Free trial
The 7-day free trial on the yearly plan is available once per Apple ID. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you are not charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, for example if you switch to the monthly plan during the trial.
4.4 Managing and cancelling
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name (Apple ID), tap Subscriptions, tap HitchDays, then Cancel Subscription. The same screen lets you switch between monthly and yearly. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After you cancel you keep HitchDays Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
4.5 Price changes
If we change a subscription price, Apple tells you in advance and, where Apple's rules or the law require it, asks for your consent first. If you do not agree, the subscription ends at the close of the current period.
4.6 Refunds
Payments go to Apple, so Apple handles refunds under its own policy. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly because we never receive your payment details.
4.7 Restoring purchases
On a new iPhone or after reinstalling, sign in with the same Apple ID and tap Restore Purchases in the app (on the paywall, or in Settings inside the app). Subscriptions belong to the Apple ID that bought them and cannot be moved to another Apple ID.
5. Your schedule is only as accurate as the rotation you enter
HitchDays works out every countdown, month grid, reminder, calendar event, and share picture from the pattern, start date, and settings you enter. It is not your employer's roster and is not connected to your employer, crew scheduler, travel department, or the Postal Service. It does not know about a crew change that gets moved, a hitch that gets extended, a swapped day, overtime, holidays, weather, or travel delays. If your real schedule changes, edit the rotation in the app. Always confirm work dates, crew changes, flights, and pay periods with your employer. We are not responsible for a missed shift, flight, crew change, or payment that results from relying on the app's dates.
6. Your data
Your rotations and settings stay on your iPhone. We do not hold a copy, so back up your iPhone if you want to keep them. Subscription records are kept by Apple and, under an anonymous ID, by our subscription service RevenueCat. The Privacy Policy explains this in full and is part of these terms.
7. Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully and do not try to get around the in-app purchase system or tamper with receipts or subscription status.
8. Updates and availability
We may release updates that add, change, or remove features, and an update may be needed to keep using the app. If we stop offering HitchDays Pro while you have paid time left, we will keep the features working for that time or work with Apple so you are refunded for the unused part.
9. No warranty
In plain words: we build HitchDays carefully, but we provide it as is, without promises. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the app is error-free, always available, fit for a particular purpose, or that its dates match your actual work schedule. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
In plain words: if something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost wages, missed travel, or lost data, arising from the app or these terms. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for HitchDays Pro in the twelve months before the claim, or ten US dollars, whichever is greater. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
11. Apple's role
As the Apple EULA says, Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its support. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
12. Ending this agreement
You can end it at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription as described in section 4.4. We may end it if you break these terms. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 13 continue after it ends.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in California, except that you may use small claims court where you live. If you live somewhere whose consumer law gives you protections that cannot be waived, you keep them.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the effective date above and, for changes that matter, say so in the app or on this site. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
