Your rotation, your hitch and home dates, and everything else you type into HitchDays stay on your iPhone. There is no account and no login, and we run no server that receives them. The one thing that leaves the phone is subscription information: the app uses RevenueCat to record purchases of HitchDays Pro under a random, anonymous ID. There are no ads and no tracking across apps.
Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the HitchDays iPhone app (including its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets) and this website handle information. The app is published by Jay Alcalde (we, us). Questions go to jayalcalde93@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
HitchDays stores your rotations (name, pattern, start date, and hitch color), your setup answers, your countdown wording and who it is for, and whether reminders are on. All of it is written to the app's private storage on your iPhone:
- Your rotations are saved as a file inside the app's own sandbox. Settings such as your countdown wording and whether reminders are on are saved in the app's on-device preferences.
- A small copy of the active rotation is written to a shared folder on the same iPhone (an App Group) so the HitchDays widgets can draw the countdown. It never leaves the phone.
- This data is included in your iCloud or computer backup if you back up your iPhone, under Apple's terms.
- It is deleted when you delete the app.
- It is never sent to us or to RevenueCat. We cannot see your rotation, your dates, or who you share them with.
Permissions the app asks for, and only when you tap something
- Calendar, write-only. If you are a HitchDays Pro subscriber and tap Add to Calendar, iOS asks whether HitchDays may add events. With your permission the app adds the dates of your next 12 changes between hitch and home to the iPhone Calendar app, as all-day events. Write-only access means the app can add events but cannot read any event already in your calendar. If your calendar syncs through iCloud, Google, or another account, those events sync the way your other events do; that happens between you and your calendar provider, not through us.
- Notifications. If you turn on Evening-before reminders, iOS asks for permission to show notifications. The reminders are scheduled on the phone itself for 6 pm the evening before each of your next 12 changes. No push server is involved.
- Nothing else. The app does not ask for location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, or App Tracking Transparency.
When you share a month picture, the image is drawn on your iPhone and handed to the iOS share sheet. You pick where it goes (Messages, a group chat, Mail, Photos). We never receive the picture or the name of the person you send it to.
Subscriptions: Apple and RevenueCat
HitchDays Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment and holds your payment details; we never see your card, your name, or your Apple Account email. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
The app also includes the RevenueCat SDK, made by RevenueCat, Inc., a subscription service we use to keep a record of purchases and subscription status. RevenueCat acts as our service provider. When the app starts and has an internet connection, and when you buy, restore, renew, or cancel, the SDK sends RevenueCat:
| What | Details | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous app user ID | A random identifier the SDK creates on your iPhone the first time the app runs. It is not your name, email, phone number, or Apple Account, and it is not the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not connect it to any of those. | To keep one subscription record per installation. |
| Purchase and subscription history | Only if you start a trial or buy: which product (monthly or yearly), its price and currency, the purchase, trial, renewal, cancellation, and expiry dates, and Apple's transaction IDs. | To confirm whether HitchDays Pro is active, to check that a transaction is genuine, and so we can see totals such as how many trials started and how many renewed. |
| Basic device and app information | iOS version, app version, SDK version, device language, and the App Store country (storefront). Like any internet request, the connection also reveals your IP address to RevenueCat. | To make the SDK work on your iOS version and show prices for your country. |
The SDK does not receive your rotation, your dates, your calendar, your notifications, or anything you type. We use this information for app functionality (subscription status) and for analytics of purchases (revenue, trial, and renewal charts in RevenueCat's dashboard). We do not use it for advertising, we do not combine it with data from other companies, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. RevenueCat's own handling of data is described in RevenueCat's privacy policy.
If you never start a trial or buy a subscription, RevenueCat still receives the anonymous ID and the device and app information above when the app opens online, but there is no purchase history to send.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-up, or login.
- No ads and no advertising SDKs.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Apart from RevenueCat, the app is built only with Apple's frameworks.
- No tracking across apps or websites, no use of the advertising identifier, no fingerprinting.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, as those words are defined in California law.
This website
This site is static HTML hosted on Vercel. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics script, and has no sign-up or contact forms. The rotation calculator runs in your browser; what you enter in it is not sent anywhere. Vercel may keep standard request logs (IP address, page requested, browser type) for a short time to run and secure the service, under Vercel's privacy policy. We do not analyze those logs.
If you email jayalcalde93@gmail.com, we see your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply. You can ask us to delete the thread at any time.
How long data is kept
- On your iPhone: until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
- At RevenueCat: the anonymous ID and purchase history are kept while we use RevenueCat for HitchDays, so a renewal or a restore can be matched to the right record, and for as long as needed for tax and accounting records. We delete a record when you ask (see below).
- At Apple: under Apple's own retention rules for your Apple Account.
- Support email: until the question is resolved, or sooner if you ask.
Deleting your data
- Data on your iPhone: delete the HitchDays app. That removes your rotations, settings, and the widget copy. Events you added to your calendar stay in the Calendar app until you delete them there.
- RevenueCat records: email jayalcalde93@gmail.com and ask us to delete your subscription record. Because there is no account, include the Apple order ID from your App Store receipt email (or the date and plan you bought) so we can find it. We delete it in RevenueCat within 30 days and confirm by email.
- Your subscription itself: cancel it in iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
Children
HitchDays is a calendar for adults who work rotations and their families. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's purchase record is in RevenueCat, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
California (CCPA/CPRA): in the last 12 months we have handled two categories of personal information, both through RevenueCat and only as described above: identifiers (the anonymous app user ID and IP address) and commercial information (subscription purchase history). We do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what we hold, to ask us to delete or correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. Email us to make a request; we answer within 45 days.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR/UK GDPR): Jay Alcalde is the controller of the subscription data described above, and RevenueCat processes it on our behalf. We rely on performance of a contract (providing the subscription you bought) and our legitimate interest in understanding sales of the app. You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing, by emailing us; we answer within 30 days. RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this data is transferred there under the safeguards described in RevenueCat's privacy policy. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data on the phone is protected by iOS app sandboxing, device encryption, and your passcode or Face ID. Data sent to RevenueCat travels over HTTPS. Because we hold no copy of your rotation or dates, a breach on our side cannot expose them.
Changes to this policy
If HitchDays starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the effective date at the top before releasing the version of the app that does it, and describe the change in plain words.
